GOR 23 will take place from 20 to 22 September 2023 at the University of Kassel

The General Online Research Conference (GOR) of the German Society for Online Research (DGOF) will take place for the 25th time this year, from Wednesday, September 20 to Friday, September 22, 2023 at the Campus Center of the University of Kassel.

What started in 1997 as a small conference with just under 30 presentations in Cologne, has developed in recent years into an international conference with an average of over 100 presentations and 350 participants from all over the world. During the three conference days, visitors* have the opportunity to participate in the discussion and analysis of innovations and current developments in the continuously changing field of digital research as well as the exchange of content in front of researchers* from science and practice.

DGOF Board Chairman Dr. Otto Hellwig on the cooperation with the local partner: “We are very pleased to be hosting GOR 23 with Prof. Dr. Bettina Langfeldt and the University of Kassel. after 2016 in Dresden, GOR is once again taking place at a location where we are stopping for the first time. I am particularly pleased about this, as new places, situations and encounters are always a source of inspiration and a reason to look forward. In addition to the conference, there will be plenty of celebrating to do in Kassel. This year we have a double anniversary with 25 times GOR and 25 years DGOF.”

Local host Prof. Dr. Bettina Langfeldt: “Since my first professional station after graduation was GESIS, I actively experienced the organization of the GOR 97 and am all the more pleased to now be able to host the anniversary event. Even then, the GOR stood for openness, innovation, interdisciplinarity and a lively exchange between science and practice – attributes that I also associate with the University of Kassel. GOR 23 therefore meets an interesting local environment and looks forward to a global audience interested in the advancement of digital research.”

The GOR 23 call for papers will be published soon. The three-day event will consist of an extensive program of presentations and workshops. There will be contributions on innovative methods, concepts and applications, as well as multifaceted discussions on current trends and developments from the various disciplines of digital research. Around 350 participants from universities, institutes and companies from Germany and abroad are expected to attend.

As one of the first conferences in Europe, the GOR started to deal with digital research in detail in the 1990s. Since 1997, it has been held regularly once a year in alternating cities in the German-speaking world. The conference series is organized by the German Society for Online Research (DGOF) and a local partner.

Save the Date: GOR 23 from September 20 to 22, 2023!
